Recipe: Chinese Marble Tea Eggs

When your tea eggs are already made, please follow my step-by-step instructions in this video to make that delicious Deviled Tea Eggs. Since simple, easy and tasty recipe has always been my goal for all my dishes, you will be able to obtain all the ingredients mentioned in this recipe easily from your local supermarket.

Ingredients

  • 10 tea eggs
  • 1-1/2 tbsp of mayonnaise
  • 1-1/2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of sriracha
  • 1 tbsp of grated shallot
  • Paprika
  • Green onion
  • Nori sheets

I used mayonnaise and olive oil to give the egg yolk a more smooth and silky texture. Grated shallot is used to give extra kick to the overall flavor. The amount of sriracha added is just enough and not too overpowering but if you like it spicier, you can always add more. I didn’t use salt because the tea egg is already mildly salty.

Nori sheets, green onion and paprika were used to create more interest to the overall appearance of the Deviled Tea Eggs.

Deviled Tea Eggs for Halloween

A classic and healthy deviled eggs recipe with an Asian spin

Ingredients

  • 10 tea eggs
  • 1-1/2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1-1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp grated shallot
  • paprika, for garnish
  • green onion, for garnish
  • nori sheets, for garnish

Instructions

  • 1)

Peel the skin and grate the shallot

  • 2)

Peel the tea eggs shelves and rinse well

  • 3)

Cut all of the eggs in half

  • 4)

With a spoon, remove the egg yolk into a mixing bowl. To easily separate the egg yolk from the egg white, use two of your fingers to pinch back the top and the bottom part of the egg. You’ll see the space where the yolk separated from the egg white. Slide the tip of the spoon in and pop the egg yolk out.

  • 5)

    Smash the egg yolks

  • 6)

Once the yolks are all broken apart, add 1 and ½ tbsp of mayonnaise, 1 and ½ tbsp of olive oil, 1 tbsp of sriracha and 1 tbsp of shallot
Stir them all together until the mixture is nice and blended.

  • 7)

Transfer the egg yolk mixture into a Ziploc bag to make it easy to fill the egg whites. Snip off 1 corner of the bag.

  • 8)

Fill up each egg white until you run out of the yolk mixture.

  • 9)

To decorate, you can a small piece of green onion on the top of the egg yolk and sprinkle paprika on the center to make a pumpkin shape.
For the spider, arrange 6 thin strips of nori onto the egg yolk to mimic the legs of the spider. Next, place the circle nori in the middle and you’ll have a spider crawling onto your deviled tea eggs. Perfect for Halloween.
