In this post, I will share with you a classic Chinese dim sum recipe: the Bell Pepper Stuffed with Ground Pork.

Chinese Style Bell Pepper Stuffed with Ground Pork is often found in a dim sum restaurant. This recipe is not only easy to make but it’s also a good way to incorporate veggie into your everyday meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 large bell pepper (green, yellow, or red)
  • 1/2 lb. of ground pork
  • 2 stalks of sliced green onion
  • 1/2 tsp. of grated ginger
  • 1 tsp. of soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. of sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp. of corn starch
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 tbsp. of cooking oil
  • 1tbsp. of black bean garlic sauce
  • 1/2 cup of water

Bell peppers come in different sizes, shapes, and colors. Any of those can be used in this recipe. I picked a large green bell pepper but if you get a smaller size, you might be able to stuff 2 bell peppers with the same amount of ingredients.

Chinese Style Bell Pepper Stuffed with Ground Pork

Chinese Style Bell Pepper Stuffed with Ground Pork is a classic dim sum dish. This recipe is not only easy to make but it's also a good way to incorporate veggie into your everyday meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 large bell pepper, green, red or yellow
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/4 cup diced carrot
  • 2 stalks green onion
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp black bean garlic sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • 1)

    Cut bell pepper into quarters. Get rid of the seeds inside.

  • 2)

    Peel the carrot and dice into small pieces.

  • 3)

    Thinly slice green onion.

  • 4)

    Grate the ginger.

Make the Ground Pork Stuffing

  • 1)

    In a mixing bowl, add ground pork, diced carrot, sliced green onion, grated ginger.

  • 2)

    Next, add 1 tsp of soy sauce, 1/4 tsp of sesame oil, 1/2 tsp of corn starch, and salt and pepper.

  • 3)

    Mix everything together. You can use a spoon, a spatula or use your hands.

  • 4)

    Let the ground pork stuffing sit for 30 minutes.

Stuff the Bell Pepper

  • 1)

    Sprinkle and spread some corn starch inside the bell pepper. This will help the ground pork stick better.

  • 2)

    Stuff the ground pork into the bell pepper. Make sure to press the ground pork in so that there is no empty space.

Fry the Bell Pepper

  • 1)

    In a pan, add 2 tbsp of cooking oil.

  • 2)

    Place the bell pepper with the pork side facing down, Fry each side for about 30 seconds or until the pork is no longer pink.

  • 3)

    Flip the bell pepper facing up. Spread black bean garlic sauce on the top.

  • 4)

    Pour 1/2 cup of water into the pan and cover with a lid.

  • 5)

    Let the bell pepper cook for 5 minutes or until the water has all evaporated. Turn of the heat.
