Teriyaki Sauce (たれの作り方)

Teriyaki sauce or Tare in Japanese has become mainstream in the US and you can find a wide variety of dishes such as teriyaki chicken and teriyaki salmon using this sauce. There is a wide variety of store-bought teriyaki that you can choose from but homemade teriyaki is still the best.

It is not only fresh and savory but also does not require too much of your time. In this recipe, only seven ingredients are used and require 30 minutes for making this sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup of mirin
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1/2 cup of sake
  • 2 tbsp. of grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp. of grated garlic

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

You can make homemade teriyaki ahead of time and store it in a mason jar for up to a month in the refrigerator. This homemade all-purpose sauce is just perfect whenever you need that extra flavor to your dishes such as grilled chicken, fish or beef. Try and see it for yourself!

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Quick and Easy Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup sake
  • 2 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp grated garlic

Instructions

  • 1)

    Grate the ginger and garlic

    In a saucepan, add soy sauce, mirin, sugar, honey, sake, grated garlic, and grated ginger.
    Start the fire to high heat and give the combination a quick stir.

  • 3)

    When the sauce starts to boil, lower the heat to medium-low and cook for 10 minutes.

  • 4)

    After cooking in the pan for 10 minutes, the sauce will reduce to about 1 and a half cup of teriyaki sauce. The consistency will also become thicker.

  • 5)

    Let it cool down completely

  • 6)

    You can pour the teriyaki sauce into a mason jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 to 3 weeks.
